How do I exit front desk mode?
Press Exit front desk mode, choose an owner, press Email the code and type the 6-digit code. An owner with an authenticator app can type that code instead.
Leaving front desk mode needs a code sent to an owner, the same way signing in works. That keeps staff from unlocking the back office on their own.
Before you begin
- You need access to an owner's email (or the owner's authenticator app).
Steps
- On the locked device press Exit front desk mode in the teal bar.
- Choose which owner should get the code. Their email is partly hidden, and owners who have an authenticator app are marked.
- Press Email the code. The owner gets a message with a 6-digit code.
- Type the code in the Code box and press Exit front desk mode.
If an owner uses an authenticator app, press Use my authenticator app instead and type the app's current code. Recovery codes do not work here.
What you'll see
The bar disappears and the full back office returns for that owner. Front desk mode is off for this device only, so other tablets and phones stay as they were. To lock the device again later, open Home and press Turn on front desk mode: see How do I turn on front desk mode?.
The owner who receives the code is told in the email that someone at the front desk asked to exit. If they did not expect it, they can ignore it and the back office stays locked.
Troubleshooting
The code ran out. Press Send a new code. Codes work for 10 minutes.
It says too many codes. You can send 3 codes in 10 minutes. Use the newest one or wait a few minutes.
It says the code is not right. Check the email for the newest code. After 5 wrong tries you must send a new one.
I see Sign out, not Exit. This account has the Staff role, which always works in front desk mode.
Questions
How long is the code good for?
10 minutes, with 5 tries. You can ask for a new code, up to 3 in 10 minutes.
Can a Staff account exit front desk mode?
No. People with the Staff role cannot exit. They see Sign out instead. An owner or manager signs in with their own account for anything else.
