How do I create a discount code?

A discount code takes a percent or a dollar amount off, or gives free shipping on shop orders. Stripe's receipt and sales tax follow the discount.

Before you begin

• Only owners can create, change or delete codes.

Steps

1. Open Discount codes. Scroll to New discount code.
2. Type the Code: letters and numbers, at least 3, such as COACH10. Customers type it at checkout. A code that looks like a 16-character gift card code is refused.
3. Pick the Type: Percent off, Amount off or Free shipping.
4. Enter the Amount: a percent from 1 to 100 or dollars like 5.00. It is not used for free shipping.
5. Under Works For, tick where it applies: Shop orders, Competition registrations, Camps and special events, Party bookings, Class drop-ins and sessions. Free shipping works only for shop orders.
6. Optional limits: Starts and Ends dates, Uses in Total, and Minimum Order.
7. Optional rules: Once per customer (by email), and Members only (the email must have an active membership).
8. Add a Note for Staff, such as "Coaches' families".
9. Leave On ticked and press Create code.

What you'll see

The code is listed with what it does, where it works, its dates, how many times it was used and the total money taken off, plus a status: Active, Scheduled, Expired, Used up or Off. Press Edit on a row to change it. Press Delete inside the editor to remove it.

A code that covers the whole price makes a no-cost checkout. On the registration form the code says what it does, such as "100% off (your entry is free)".

Troubleshooting

"already exists". Pick a different code or edit the existing one.

"Tick at least one place the code works". Choose at least one item under Works For.

A customer says the code does nothing. Check its dates, its status in the list, whether it works for what they are buying, the minimum order and the members only rule.
