How do I see how my gym ranks against other gyms in search?
Analytics > Search vs competitors gives a search score for Google Maps, Google, Bing and AI answers, next to the gyms you compete with. Owners open it.
This page compares where your gym shows up when families search with where the gyms competing for the same families show up. It also shows what those searches bring to your website and your business.
Before you begin
- Only owners can open this page. Managers cannot.
- It is built from the checks you run on Local search. If you have not chosen your searches yet, the page tells you to do that first and press Check where I show up now there.
- Your Local search settings choose which searches and questions are checked.
Steps
- Open Search vs competitors from Analytics > Search vs competitors.
- Read Your search score at the top. It is a percentage where 100% means first place everywhere. Beside it, see your rank among the gyms competing for your searches and when you were last checked.
- Read the tiles below, one for each channel: Google Maps, Google search, AI answers, Bing and Google AI Overview. Each shows your score, the change since the last check, and your place among the gyms competing.
- In Share of voice: you and the competition, compare yourself with other businesses. Listing sites such as Yelp or Facebook are shown apart, as places where you want to be listed correctly.
- In Your visibility over time, follow the lines from check to check.
- In What search brings to your website, see visits from Google, Bing and AI assistants in the last 30 days, how many took action, and a month-by-month table with your new paying families and parties booked. Owners also see the money taken.
- In Search by search, see each search, your Google Maps top-3 spots, your Google and Bing positions with arrows against the last check, whether Google's AI Overview cites you, and who leads.
- In Who the AI assistants recommend, see how often ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude named each gym in answers to the questions parents ask.
- Open How we measure this at the bottom for the plain-words method.
What you'll see
Before your site is live, a card called Take your "before" snapshot appears. It is taken by itself when you request your launch, and owners can press Take it now. Once you are live, every check is compared with it.
Website footprint on Google estimates how many searches each site ranks for and the visits Google sends it per month. Owners can press Update now or Read it now. These are estimates.
Troubleshooting
"Nothing to compare yet." Run your first check on Local search, or wait a few minutes for the "before" snapshot to finish.
A competitor I do not know is ahead. The list is built from who actually shows up for your searches. Directories are listed separately.

Questions
Why does my score change from one check to the next?
Search results move a little on their own. Look at the trend over several months rather than one check.
How often is it checked?
A check runs from Local search, and a new one runs by itself every month.
What is the "before" snapshot?
A check taken while Google still shows your old website. After launch, every check is compared with it so you can see the difference.
