How do I download a backup of my gym's data?
Open Settings > Backups. A copy is made every night and kept 14 days. Press Back up now for a fresh one, then Download. Store the file safely.
Backups give you a copy of everything your site holds, as a file you can keep. They also protect you if something goes wrong.
Before you begin
- You must be an owner.
- A backup file contains your customers' personal data. Keep it somewhere safe and do not email it or share it.
Steps
- Open Backups.
- To make a copy right now, press Back up now.
- In the list, find the backup by the time it was made. The table shows Made, Records and Size.
- Press Download. A big backup comes in parts, with buttons such as Part 1 of 3. Download each part.
What you'll see
A backup holds your settings and pages, competitions, registrations, orders, customers, staff, signed waivers, memberships, requests and the history of changes. The file downloads as a .json file named with your gym and the date. If the gym has no backup yet, the page says the first one is made tonight, or you can use Back up now.
Good to know
- The first backup of a new gym is made that night, so a brand new gym may show none yet. Use Back up now if you want one straight away.
- Your backup includes the history of changes, so your list of who changed what is in the file as well.
- Each copy is stored outside the website's database when NinjaHQ's storage is connected, so it is there even if the database itself were lost.
- If you want to keep a copy for your own records, download it, put it in a private folder, and delete extra copies from shared computers.
Troubleshooting
"That backup is no longer available." Copies older than 14 days are removed. The newest copy is always kept.
I need to put something back from a backup. Contact NinjaHQ with what and when. For website edits, use History instead.
