What do families see about price and renewal before they pay?
Before paying, families see the price, automatic renewal, your terms and how to cancel, and must tick an agreement. Edit the terms under Plans & rules.
Automatic renewal laws expect the customer to see the price, the renewal and how to cancel before they pay, and to agree on purpose. NinjaHQ builds this into the join flow so you do not have to.
Before you begin
- Owners edit the terms and rules. Managers can read them.
- Have your attorney review the terms.
Steps
What families see
- On your website's /memberships page each plan shows its price and what it covers, with any trial or sign-up fee, and a Join button.
- The join page shows a summary: the price, any trial or one-time sign-up fee, "Charged automatically until you cancel," and either "Cancel any time from My account" or a pointer to the terms.
- A Membership terms box opens to your full terms and How to cancel.

- The family must tick the agreement. It states the price, any sign-up fee, when the first charge happens (today, after a free trial, or on a chosen date), that they are charged again each billing period until they cancel, and that they agree to the terms.
- They press Continue to payment and pay on Stripe's secure page, which repeats "Renews ... until you cancel."
- Afterward they get a welcome email with the price, next payment date, the terms and how to cancel.
What you set
- Open Memberships and press Plans & rules.
- Scroll to Rules.
- Edit Membership Terms (shown before paying and sent with the welcome email) and the Introduction on the Memberships Page.

- Keep Members can cancel online in My account ticked. When off, the Cancel button sends you the request instead.
- Keep the receipts box ticked to email a receipt for each payment.
- Press Save the rules.
What you'll see
The thank-you and welcome email repeat the price and how to cancel in plain words. Your wording is in every join page and email.
Troubleshooting
Families cannot cancel online. Check that Members can cancel online in My account is ticked on Plans & rules.
I cannot edit the terms. Only owners can. Managers see the text read-only.
Questions
Why does the online cancel option matter?
Several states require an online way to cancel anything sold online. NinjaHQ turns Members can cancel online in My account on by default. Leave it on unless your attorney says otherwise.
Should a lawyer read the terms?
Yes. The starting text is a common month-to-month policy. The page says to have your attorney review it.
Where is the agreement recorded?
NinjaHQ records that the member agreed, and when, on their membership.
