How do I sign in with Face ID and get phone notifications?
Open Sign-in & alerts on your phone. Add the back office to your Home Screen, set up Face ID or fingerprint sign-in, then turn on notifications and pick topics.
Each person sets up their own sign-in and alerts on their own phone. It takes a few minutes and saves waiting for an email code every time.
Before you begin
- Do this on your own phone or computer, not a shared tablet.
- Notifications are switched on by NinjaHQ. If the page says notifications are coming soon, there is nothing to do yet.
Steps
1. Put the back office on your Home Screen
- Open Sign-in & alerts.
- In Put the back office on your Home Screen, press Add to my Home Screen if the button shows.
- Otherwise on an iPhone or iPad: open the page in Safari, tap the Share button, choose Add to Home Screen, then Add. On Android: open it in Chrome, tap the menu, and choose Add to Home screen or Install app.
- Open your gym from the Home Screen and sign in there.
2. Sign in with your face or fingerprint
- In Sign in with your face or fingerprint, press Set up Face ID or fingerprint sign-in.
- Approve the prompt on your device.
- Next time, use Sign in with Face ID, fingerprint or screen lock on the sign-in page.
- To add another device, press Add a passkey on this device on that device. Remove deletes one.
3. Turn on notifications
- In Pop-up notifications on your phone, press Turn on notifications on this device and allow them.
- Tick what to be told about. Topics include a competition registration, a new membership, a signed waiver, a birthday party request, a camp or event sign-up, a message from the website, a refund request, a text or voicemail, a paid invoice and clock-in reminders.
- Press Save my choices, then Send me a test.
What you'll see
- Passkeys are listed with when you added and last used them. A passkey saved to a password manager also works on your other devices.
- Your devices lists each phone getting notifications, with Turn off for each.
- Waiver signings always notify owners unless an owner turned that setting off on the Waivers page.
- Emails still arrive as before.
Troubleshooting
The passkey button is missing. This browser cannot use passkeys. Try Safari on an iPhone, Chrome on Android, or a recent browser on a computer.
A passkey from one site does not work on another. Passkeys are tied to the exact address of your gym's site. If your site moves to its own domain, add the passkey again.
No test notification arrived. On an iPhone, make sure you opened the Home Screen app, not Safari. Check your phone's notification settings for the app.
Questions
Do I still need the emailed code?
The emailed code always keeps working. A passkey is just a faster way in on your own devices.
Why don't I get notifications on my iPhone?
Apple only allows them from the Home Screen app. Add the back office to your Home Screen first, open it from there, sign in, and then turn notifications on.
Will a notification show a customer's name?
No. Notifications never include customer names or contact details, because they show on lock screens.
