How do live results and the live stream show on competition day?
Your site gets a live page with the stream, up next and results. Add a YouTube link and, if you use it, the Ninja Master event on Event details.
On competition day your website can show a live page with the stream, an athlete finder, who is up next, the results and the run order. Most of it fills in by itself. This article covers the two things you can set.
Before you begin
- Post the run order first (see post the run order); the live page uses it to show up next and each athlete's times.
- Ninja Master is optional. To use it, connect your Ninja Master token on Connections.
Steps
- Open Competitions, press the competition, then open Event details.
- Under Live Stream (YouTube Link) paste the YouTube address of your broadcast. If you leave it empty, the league's broadcast is found by itself once it is scheduled, and the hint under the field says so.
- Optional: put the competition's Ninja Master link or number in Ninja Master Event. The page then shows live run order and results from Ninja Master.
- Optional: add a Results Link.
- Press Save event.
What you'll see
- The competition page and your home page show a countdown to the start of the stream, or to the start of competition day. On the day it says "We're live", and afterward "replay". Visitors press play to load the video.
- The live page for the competition is at your website address followed by
/competitions/and the competition's address and/live. It updates about once a minute. - On competition day the home page puts the live summary first. For a week afterward the competition page shows the results panel.
- When a league broadcasts one video per session, the page lists "Watch every session" with Up next, On now or Replay for each.
Troubleshooting
The live page has no results yet. Results appear when the league publishes them. Without a Ninja Master event, they come from the league's results service, which can run a little behind.
The stream card shows the wrong video. Paste the correct YouTube link into the Live Stream (YouTube Link) field and save. A link you paste is kept, and the start time is looked up from it.
Up next is empty. The run order has not been posted, or it has no start times.
Questions
Do I have to paste the YouTube link?
Not always. For league competitions NinjaHQ looks for the broadcast on YouTube by itself once it is scheduled. Pasting a link overrides it.
Do visitors' browsers contact YouTube right away?
No. The video loads only after someone presses play.
Where do the results come from?
From the league's results service, or from Ninja Master when you give the competition its Ninja Master event. Once the competition is over, NinjaHQ keeps a copy on the competition.
