How do I review the email addresses NinjaHQ fixed?
Open Customers > Email fixes to see each corrected address before and after, and press Change back on a wrong one. Owners can also run Check email addresses.
Typos in email addresses mean lost receipts and reminders. NinjaHQ corrects obvious slips on its own, like gmail.co, a stray comma or hotmial.com, and keeps a record so you can check its work.
Before you begin
- Fixes happen in two places: while you import a list, and when an owner presses Check email addresses on the Contacts page.
- The Email fixes link in the Customers menu always opens the list. A button with a count also appears on the Contacts page once there is something to review.
Steps
To review the fixes
- Open Email fixes.
- The big number at the top is how many addresses have been fixed. The boxes under it count them by reason: While importing, Typos, Couldn't receive mail and Changed back. Click one to show only those.
- Each row shows the contact, the address before → after with the changed letters marked, why it was changed and when.
- Search by a name or address with the search box.
- If a fix is wrong, press Change back and confirm. The old address is restored.
To check every address at once (owners)
- Open Contacts.
- In the Missing information panel, press ✓ Check email addresses. Keep the page open; with thousands of contacts it can take a minute or two.
- Typos are fixed, and each address's domain is looked up to see whether it can receive mail. Throwaway domains are flagged too.
- Use the Email can't receive mail tile or the Needs checking filter to see what is left.
What you'll see
- A confirmation: "Changed back to" the old address.
- On the contact's page, a warning if the email domain cannot receive mail or is a throwaway address.
- Contacts with an invalid address are kept, marked needing a check, and are never emailed until fixed.
Troubleshooting
There is no Change back button. Someone edited the address after the fix, the contact was deleted, or it was already changed back. Another contact may also already use the old address.
I do not see Check email addresses or Change back. Those buttons are for owners. Ask an owner of the gym.
A domain was marked unable to receive mail, but it is real. Lookups that time out are never counted as bad. If you know the address is right, edit the contact and save it.
Questions
Does NinjaHQ email an address to test it?
No. It only looks up whether the part after the @ can receive mail. It never sends a test email and never uses an outside checking service.
What if I change an address back and it is wrong again?
Edit the contact directly from its page. Once someone edits an address by hand, the fix shows as edited since and Change back is no longer offered.
